5 Essential Oil Diffuser Blends for Autumn

autumn-bliss

The nights are drawing in, there are leaves crunching underfoot and there’s a new chill in the air. Autumn has well and truly arrived, and rather than lamenting the departure of summer, it’s time to embrace this beautiful time of year.

Get cosy

There’s no point fighting it, winter’s coming. But before the coldest months hit, we’ve still got colourful leaves on the trees to enjoy. This is a wonderful time of year to start making your lair as cosy as possible, and there’s no better place to start than with some comforting autumnal scents.

Why a diffuser?

Diffusers are a fantastic way to scent your home. Candles can be addictive, as we’re all suckers for that flickering light, but a lot of the mass-produced scented candles you find on the market release things into the air that are questionable for both you to be breathing and for the environment.

It’s not just that. If you go for scented candles you’re limited to just one shop-bought (and probably synthetic) scent at a time, but with a diffuser you can mix things up depending on your mood. You can experiment with different essential oil blends until you find the perfect combinations for you.

You might find that you want something zesty and stimulating to get you out of bed in the morning and something mellow and comforting for when you’re curling up with a book on a chilly evening.

Although you’re bound to adapt any essential oil blend recipes to your own personal taste over time, everyone needs a little inspiration to get them started.

Here are just a handful of our favourite autumn diffuser blends to get you excited about autumn.

Fresh Skin Clary Sage essential oil with an electric diffuser

Spicy chai

There’s nothing quite as luxurious as snuggling under a blanket on an autumn evening clutching a steaming mug of chai. Comforting yet still exotic, fill your home with the scent of this drink when you’ve had a long hard day and need to relax and unwind.

The spicy scents are great for a romantic night in, too. Turn the lights down low, cook up a warming recipe and fill the air with this seductive scent, then huddle together for warmth.

Autumn leaves

Craving a country walk, but no chance to escape the confines of the city? Bring the scent of the forest in winter into your very own home.

This blend is surprisingly invigorating, so it’s great for the mornings or whenever you’re in need of a boost of energy. Almost as good as a bracing stroll in the woods.

frankincense essential oil

Pumpkin spice diffuser blend

If your guilty pleasure at this time of year is a pumpkin spice latte, then you’ll absolutely adore this blend. This is another fragrance that you’ll love filling the house with of an evening.

While we all love being out and about and making the most of the warm summer evenings, we can probably all agree that we don’t mind using the colder weather as an excuse to catch up on a few of our favourite box sets. Just be careful that this soothing blend doesn’t have you drifting off just as it gets to the good bit…

Apple pie

Who doesn’t love a slice of warm apple pie on a nippy autumnal day? This recipe is the ultimate autumn comfort food in scent form.

This is the perfect blend to have diffusing throughout the house on a Sunday afternoon when the family is well fed and relaxing in the warmth. If you can resist the temptation to bake the real thing, then we take our hats off to you!

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Mulled cider

Even if autumn isn’t your favourite season, we wouldn’t mind betting that the reappearance of mulled wine and mulled cider is a pretty good consolation.

Whilst you can’t really be drinking mulled cider every day, tempting as it might be, you can quite happily fill your home with this autumnal scent on a nightly basis.

Sit back, relax, breathe deeply and snuggle into autumn.
