May chang essential oil is harvested from the litsea cubeba plant which grows in tropical regions and the oil extracted from its pepper-like fruits.
With its top note fragrance and medium strength aroma, may chang essential oil’s crisp, citrus scent (which has been compared to lemongrass) blends well with a number of other oils including; basil, bergamot, geranium, ginger, jasmine, rose, rosemary and ylang-ylang.
The litsea cubeba plant, source for may chang essential oil, is traditionally used in Chinese medicine. May chang essential oil is often also blended with almond oil and used for perfumery, meditation and prayer and is often referred to as the ‘oil of tranquillity’.
