This tall, majestic pyramid-shaped evergreen tree, which reaches heights of 40 metres, is known for its strength and density and also for its distinct aroma. Cedarwood contains an exceptionally high percentage of oil, which is carefully extracted by steam distillation. It’s long been known for its insect-repellent properties and was used to make special chests for linen storage to keep moths out. Indeed, its camphoraceous aroma is reminiscent of moth balls.
Mixing cedarwood organic essential oil with citrus oils gives them a complementary base note but rosemary, chamomile and eucalyptus work well too, but there are plenty of other options.
